A 5S storage case study delivered by Techmine, addressing disorganised and unsafe storage of lifting equipment through engineered container solutions that improve safety, accessibility, asset protection, and site efficiency. Detailed outcomes are available in the supporting case study below.
Problems Identified:
- Lifting beams and accessories are often stored on bare ground and not returned to a secure place.
- Items frequently go missing or get stolen.
- Inability to identify correct equipment for the task
- No visual management or inventory system in place.
Why It Happened:
- No dedicated storage area for lifting equipment, leading to tools being left on the plant after the job is done.
- Lack of accountability or tracking.
- Poor housekeeping and no system in place to track or audit lifting equipment, making it hard to ensure everything is accounted for and maintained.
